For all those who hear by progressive rock a music which evolves unceasingly, the disappointment is likely to be great with this new opus of Neal Morse so much his albums are so similar. But here, personally, this constancy is more conducive to my happiness than to any kind of weariness.
So let's say it clearly, originality is not the artist's strong point but a constant element that makes you never get tired of the subject: talent.
Four tracks, including three "epics", make up this album which begins, as usual, with an opening on the same scheme as "Testimony", "Interrogation" or "Snow", Spock's Beard's last album under the Neal Morse era. One recognizes immediately the paw of the man but also the play of one of his favorite acolytes, namely Mike Portnoy who sometimes does a little too much, but so characteristic of Neal Morse's works.
So what's the point of going over each track? As on the previous albums, it's very well produced, very well executed and you will alternate between powerful moments, poignant melodies and simple but extremely effective rock interludes.
"Sola Scriptura" certainly doesn't bring anything to the music in general but what a pleasure to listen to it! So a simple advice, go quickly throw an ear on this album, and ask yourself the question to which I haven't found an answer yet : "but which of all Neal Morse's albums is better than the others ?". - Official website
