If the rock or the metal and the electro have for a long time made separate rooms, there has been for a few years some rapprochement. It began with the incorporation, a long time ago, in hard rock of synthesizers and keyboards in metal especially known as progressive. This has allowed to merge two genres that have for too long tended to be opposed. This marriage brought a contemporary touch, not to say modern, to metal (Vola is in this vein or Carpenter Brut with a more indus side).
In France, Working Klass Heroes went to the end of the concept with a very 80's imagery creating maybe a sub-genre: the synth metalcore? The album opens on 'Left For Dead Too' which alternates verses with screamed and hoarse vocals and chorus with a clearer vocal line. It goes at full speed ! The compositions will almost all follow this structure with more or less accentuation on one side or the other ('Collapse' leans for example towards a volcanic and eruptive side).
If the style, seen as a mixture between David Guetta and Pantera, could be surprising, Working Klass Heroes gains a legitimacy by not falling into the caricature. The vocals is very well mastered, going from screamed to clear with brio. The musicians ensure, between overexcited riffs and hypnotic rhythmic ('The End Is Night'). The group also goes a little further by proposing some hip hop in the nice 'Working Klass Ego' which closes the album.
Between organic and digital, between claim and fun, between metal and dance, Working Klass Heroes could have been lost and yet manages to find a certain balance. If it seems a little too generous, "No Excuses, No Remorses" remains nevertheless a beautiful success. - Official website
