Melodic metal fans have been eagerly awaiting "Inception" for four years now. Indeed, anxiety had been brewing in their ranks ever since Alexander Strandell embarked on a successful new adventure in 2021 with Crowne. Last year, the release of the newcomer's second opus distilled doubts in the minds of aficionados, who saw it as the sidelining of Art Nation. Today, however, there's no need to worry, with the arrival of the combo's fourth effort in record stores.

The frontman has acknowledged his past wrongs in the band's explosion after the "Libération" album (2017) - none of his partners were in fact at the helm on "Transition" the following production. So he made peace with Christoffer Borg, his guitarist friend at the time, and invited him to rejoin the crew. As a result, Art Nation is now down to a single guitarist, and a new drummer has been sworn in.

It's highly likely that these incessant movements partly explain the stylistic fluctuations seen from one work to the next since the band's inception. As for this new effort, it's very metal with AOR hooks. It's all down to that devil Borg, who pulls out all the stops, particularly on the plethora of melodically, velocity- and power-packed soli.

Really muscular, and systematically easy listening, the eleven tracks passe at the speed of light, leaving the radio-friendly metal fan bloodless. There's not a single ballad to soothe the raging fire, culminating in 'Brutal & Beautiful', which smacks of raging Sixx A.M., and 'The Legend Reborn', which isn't as hard-hitting but is just as gripping.

Art Nation has undoubtedly released one of the albums that will shine in the genre's annual top five. Strandell's collection of gems makes him one of the rising stars behind the microphone. And believe it or not, at this rate and with such consistency in the quality of his performances and his choices, we haven't heard the last of him.

Torp t'exagères un brin avec ton 2. Comme tu n'aimes pas le hard mélo, je trouve que tu devrais rajouter un point de compensation à chaque fois que tu notes un album de ce type.
