"The Defiants' "Drive" takes us back to the very essence of melodic hard rock!"

Four years after Zokusho, here comes Danger Danger again - well, The Defiants to be precise, but it's all the same. Three-quarters of the band is made up of former members of the 90's combo, which has been mute since 2009, and the offspring is lining record store shelves this early summer with "Drive", which we hope will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor.
The band's third album features eleven tracks of arena-rock hard FM and offers a veritable firework of melody. The distilled vocal harmonies are devastating, and the rhythms and themes conveyed succeed without fail in either galvanizing the listener. The melodies beguile and then take hold. As for the guitars, they are omnipresent and of the highest quality in this musical genre - what a fine program!
With "Drive", The Defiants offer us an opus that's great for morale. We could even call it a summer album, so much so that all its tracks trigger desires for liberating journeys to an elsewhere far from the throes of everyday life. 'Summertime' would suit Rick Springfield, and the ballad 'Miracle' reminds Def Leppard and Harem Scarem. 'What Are We Waiting For' mixes Coheed And Cambria with Bon Jovi, and we find April Wine's 'Sign Of The Gipsy Queen' on the verses of the hit 'Nothing's Gonna Stop Me'. Finally, it would be an insult not to mention 'Love Doesn't Live Here Anymore' and 'Another Time, Another Place', the two pearls of the work, as they are veritable little miracles of melodic conception.
Energetic and romantic, here's a return to good old hard FM with this highly addictive "Drive". Built the old-fashioned way, without metallic artifice or electronic trappings, this album will delight fans of the traditions attached to the genre's heyday. Let's thank The Defiants for this return to the very essence of melodic hard rock, and for upsetting us to such an extent with this journey into a golden past. - Official website
