""Truth Killer" will please fans, but will not enable Sevendust to expand its existing fan base, as the Americans find it hard to renew themselves."

Sevendust has been around for almost 30 years, and let's face it, even if the line-up closely resembles that of the band's beginnings, without the singular voice of 50-year-old Lajon Witherspoon, Sevendust wouldn't be Sevendust. What's more, any featuring by this singer systematically overshadows any host who is kind enough to invite him. The band's musicians are certainly not to be outdone, but it's far from easy to stand out when you have such a charismatic leader at the mike.
Staying on the metal scene for so long is a feat of bravery, because a big riff and a commercial chorus aren't enough if you want to last. If Sevendust can do it, it's because they've got that little something extra. And it's Lajon who's got just that, supporting the band at arm's length with his remarkable vocal range. Sevendust's detractors sometimes criticize them for their quest for the sales chorus, but, rightly or wrongly, their recipe has passed the test of fire with the release of this fourteenth album, despite increased competition in their niche.
Musically, those who liked Sevendust before will resolutely love "Truth Killer", the band offering what they know best. Unfortunately, this is also the album's weak point. The band is in their comfort zone, taking minimal risks. - Official website
