Like a Swiss clockwork, Eclipse brings us since 2015 its biennial album at the end of a summer. "Megalomanium" is the name of the ninth offspring of these Swedes, who continue to climb the ladder of notoriety in the small world of melodic hard rock.

This new production, although a little short, is full of insane energy. It's impossible to remain impassive in the face of these jolting guitars and vibrant, bouncing melodies that, made for the stage, are instantly memorable. The album is lively and puts you in a good mood. However, this lightness conceals a particularly invective speech from Martensson, who spits his anger in the face of the rich and greedy of this world. The almost punk rock feel of some of the tracks is perfectly suited to this social charge. Fast and powerful, the tracks are nevertheless wrapped in a harmonious film, making them accessible to arena rock fans.

This feel-good music, a blend of Scandinavian melodic metal rock and alternative rock, has become Eclipse's DNA, and has some memorable tracks in store for us. Examples include the galvanizing 'The Hardest Part Is Losing You', the Celtic-country 'Anthem' with its Gary Moore-like solo, and 'Children Of The Night', which evokes Black Sabbath on certain riffs, but whose darkness is annihilated by a luminous chorus. Also worthy of mention are the overblown 'Got It!', pursued by the ghosts of Green Day and Def Leppard (on backing vocals), and the reactionary 'The Broken', in which Martensson delivers his rallying pamphlet for the oppressed: "We've got nothing to lose, we are the broken".

Eclipse has not missed the ninth step on the stairway to the top. Now the standard-bearers of Scandinavian hard rock, the Swedes still have a bright future ahead of them, and can afford to proclaim on 'One Step Closer To You': "We are unstoppable, we are unbreakable".

ROCK - In "Songs Of White Lion", Mike Tramp and his team offer an exciting reworking of old White Lion tracks without distorting them.

PROGRESSIVE ROCK - Imilla" may be the least progressive album in Il Bacio Della Medusa's discography, but it is nonetheless a work of quality for its density and the involvement of its performers.
