With a name that evokes of the most infamous black thrash, a logo reminiscent of Sadistik Exekution and a cover featuring a handful of creatures prostrating themselves at the feet of a diabolical giant, it's an understatement to say that Black Pestilence set the tone from the outset with their new opus, poetically christened "Chaotic Wisdom". For fifteen years now, the Canadians have been spitting out their unholy bile, pounding out nuclear black metal with a punkish undertone and polluted with noise cysts.

Six previous misdeeds have already seen the light of day, and honesty compels yours truly to admit that he'd never heard of them before. So it's with a virgin ear that we discover the successor to "Hail The Flesh" (2020). Seven blasphemies follow one another at a frenetic pace, without ever softening or applying the handbrake. The whole thing lasts a mere twenty-five minutes. It's a fast-paced listen, and it's hard to retain anything from this mush, except for a little foot-tapping here ('Aspect Of Darkness'), some timid glimmers of melody there ('The Devil's Connection') or the final 'Animus', which is longer and more elaborate than the rest.

In this barbaric, prehistoric style, Black Pestilence have undoubtedly mastered their subject, and the whole is sufficiently catchy to make a positive impression. But it's possible to prefer the genre, not necessarily when it's more sophisticated, but when it's draped in more sinister garb and relies more on atmosphere than on over-the-top aggression.

Fans of Beherit and Sarcofago will undoubtedly appreciate this wicked, ear-bleeding "Chaotic Wisdom". And that's the main thing!
