"A slightly improved copy of "Migrant" on the occasion of its tenth anniversary. Not exactly a novelty, but the remastering underlines the work's qualities."

Great ! A new album from The Dear Hunter! At the end of 2023, the band's fans, desperate to see the arrival of Act VI of Casey Crescenzo's great work, see the arrival of an LP. Amuse-bouche to keep you waiting, or a substantial offering?

"Migrant Return" is a direct reference to 2013's "Migrant". In fact, this "Return" presents exactly the same tracks as its predecessor, in a different order, which has little musical impact, and remastered, which is more interesting but is limited here to very minimal alterations, as evidenced by the length of the tracks, which are just a few seconds longer than their predecessors.

In strictly musical terms, there's not much to add to the previous review. On the other hand, the refreshment brought about by the cleaner production emphasizes the vocal side, better highlighted, and the rockier aspect of the whole. A few instrumental passages have been removed for this purpose.

For those who already own "The Migrant", there's little point in buying "Return". And if a choice had to be made between the two versions, the 2023 model seems more in keeping with Casey Crescenzo's original intention, who wanted to keep things more direct and less sophisticated than the "Acts", the conclusion of which we're still waiting to hear...

OTHER REVIEWS
DISSONA: Dreadfully Distinct (2023)
PROGRESSIVE METAL - "Dreadfully Distinct" is a pleasant but all-too-short progressive metal moment that inevitably calls for a sequel.
THERION: Leviathan Iii (2023)
MELODIC METAL - "Leviathan III is the perfect conclusion to an inspired trilogy. Therion becomes bolder and offers a number of bravura moments.
