"Artificial Paradise" is the third album of Sylvan, a German band. Not having listened to anything of them before I couldn't compare this production to the previous ones. No album, so far, has allowed Sylvan to make a name for itself. Is this opus going to change things?

I don't know where to start so "Artificial Paradise" blew my mind. In a style oscillating between neo-progressive rock and progressive metal, almost all the tracks are a success.

The voice, powerful and accurate, evolves according to the atmospheres and genres to bring a real personality to each of the compositions. Instrumentally it is also very good. The electronic sounds (synthesizer - drum machine) as well as the bass bringing a lot of fullness rub shoulders with the piano and the guitar with its amazing soli.

Without being heterogeneous the compositions are varied and very "catchy". Many are the metal parts that are close to Pain Of Salvation but less brutal. For the rest it's only feeling, melodies and emotion.

Sylvan with "Artificial Paradise" raises the bar very high in a unique and yet very easily assimilated style. The first listening is pleasant and the pleasure only increases on the following ones. Without any shadow in the picture, this album is simply a reference.

OTHER REVIEWS
ARENA: Contagion (2003)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - More modern and full of nuance, "Contagion" is proving to be a real gem in addition to the already excellent "The Visitor" and "Immortal? "
MARILLION: Script For A Jesters Tear (1983)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - First album of Marillion rather inspired by Genesis, "Script For A Jester's Tear" installs the bases of a group which will become rather quickly one of the pillars of the Progressive Rock.
