In the early '90s, the Americans of Exhorder made a name for themselves with two albums of hard-hitting Thrash. The story quickly turned sour, with a split in 1994. After several unsuccessful attempts, the band has been back in business since 2017. All that remains of their origins is singer Kyle Thomas. The band has successfully revived its career with an excellent album released in 2019, "Mourn The Southern Skies".

The follow-up is called "Defectum Omnium" and sees the presence of ex-Cannibal Corpse guitarist Pat O'Brian. Exhorder has always varied its pleasures, and does so again with this album. The base remains Thrash, and the result is ferocious missiles. 'Wrath Of Prophecies', 'Divine And Conquer', 'Year Of The Goat' and 'Desensitized' are fast-paced whirlwinds in the spirit of Death Angel and Slayer

The band also sounds hardcore punk. 'Forever And Beyond Despair' and 'Sedition' are two unstoppable slaps in the face. The beastly, brutal mix doesn't cut any corners, with a playful speed. And there's a doom side. With 'The Tale Of Unsound Minds', Exhorder -along with Trouble's guitarists- delivers a track worthy of Candlemass. The tone is heavy with leaden riffs and solos. 'Your Six' hurts with its fat sludge guitars and seductive, smoky stoner-tinged vocals.

With "Defectum Omnium", Exhorder confirms the relevance of their comeback. Beyond Thrash, it offers a mix of sounds that deliver power and intensity.
