Australia's Angus and Julia Stone make their comeback to the music scene after a three-year absence, unveiling their new opus, "Cape Forestier", following their collaboration on the soundtrack to the video game "Life Is Strange". The brother and sister, famous for their haunting pop folk sound and their must-have hit "Big Jet Plane" released in 2011, continue to evolve while remaining true to their musical essence since their debut.

On "Cape Forestier", the duo subtly revisit their musical formula, returning to the very essence of folk while adding touches of modernity. The compositions are pared-down and accessible, highlighting the complementarity of Angus and Julia's voices without either dominating the other, but rather seeking to harmonize perfectly. This balance is also reflected in the arrangements, where new elements enrich the duo's already familiar soundscape.

The album thus offers a diversity of sounds and influences, from "No Boat No Aeroplane", which draws its inspiration from Tom McRae, to "The Wonder Of You", which incorporates symphonic elements, to the almost R'n'B touches of "Down The Sea" and the brassy accents of "My Little Anchor". This musical exploration by small touches lends "Cape Forestier" a depth and richness that seduce from the very first listen.

Beyond its musicality, the album also offers a reflection on human relationships and our relationship with nature. Throughout, a melancholy thread emerges, evoking the nuances and complexities of human interaction, as well as the beauty and fragility of our connection with the world around us.

In short, "Cape Forestier" is a veritable musical journey, where each track is an invitation to introspection and discovery. Angus and Julia Stone once again demonstrate their talent for capturing the essence of human emotion through their music, making this album both an intimate and universal experience.

OTHER REVIEWS
PEARL JAM : Dark Matter (2024)
ROCK - As unstoppable as ever, "Dark Matter" is yet another demonstration of Pearl Jam's savoir-faire, touching fans to the core without revolutionizing a legendary identity.
BLACKBERRY SMOKE: Be Right Here (2024)
ROCK - Despite some fine, finely-crafted pieces. "Be Right Here" remains too traditional and gives the impression of a lazy Blackberry Smoke.
