"Somewhere between thrash, punk and heavy metal, The Hellectric Devilz have produced an ebullient record, offering up a series of fireworks designed to dismantle everything in concert."

With “The Hellectric Club”, released in 2020, Bayonne's The Hellectric Devilz made a good impression. Their electric mix of heavy, punk and thrash was bursting with rock'n'roll energy. Four years later, the band returned with “The Devilz Playground” with a modified line-up, Rob having been replaced on the mic by JP.
When The Hellectric Devilz feel like smashing things up, they do it with tracks tinged with snarling punk. The Hellectric Club', 'Chosen One', 'Down In One' and 'Struck Up' are missiles carried by JP's raspy, ramshackle vocals. There's a rock'n'roll feel to the album, with simple choruses, typical of the genre, and a sense of urgency in the nervous solos. In a rock'n'roll vein, 'Whiskill' is a gem worthy of Motörhead's class.
At the same time, The Hellectric Devilz become more metal. To Hell And Back', 'Tower Of Terror' and 'Doctor Pills' tend towards a thrash somewhere between Anthrax and Overkill. There's an irresistible galloping edge to the music, supported by searing riffs and solos that are not far removed from the crossover spirit. A heavy edge akin to early Iron Maiden is also present, thanks in particular to JP's abrasive timbre. Last but not least, the band goes for a softer touch with “Bed Of Death”, a purely emotional power ballad that harks back to the '90s, with an irresistibly villainous edge.
“The Devilz Playground” confirms the talent of The Hellectric Devilz. A veritable sonic explosion, the album is a fine concentration of the best components of boiling-hot energetic Rock. - Official website
