Myles Kennedy gets tough. After the introspective acoustic “Year Of The Tiger” and the blues-oriented “The Ides Of March”, the American is back with a third solo album that smacks of classic rock and hard rock, and once again sets the record straight about his relationship with the guitar. For while he has nothing left to prove as a vocalist, to the delight of Alter Bridge and Slash, he once again proves that as a guitarist, he has nothing to envy those who accompany him in these two bands. So it's with a simple, effective trio formula that Myles Kennedy brings us “The Art Of Letting Go”, with its direct, melodic compositions.

“The Art Of Letting Go” is one of those albums that has been fine-tuned down to the last detail, yet is imbued with a sincerity and humility that makes it instantly likeable. Myles Kennedy gets straight to the point with catchy choruses ('Say What You Will'), particularly effective riffs and well-composed solos with unfailing rock energy ('The Art Of Letting Go').

Of course, the American colors every track with his unmistakable vocal timbre, but the most remarkable thing about listening to this album is the extent to which he dominates his subject. Myles Kennedy is a true rocker, as comfortable with old-school classic rock ('Miss You When You're Gone') as he is with modern alternative rock ('Nothing More To Gain'). As for the ballads inherent to the style, they are an opportunity for him to remind us that emotion comes first and foremost through the subtle blend of an outstanding voice and a sophisticated chord progression ('Behind The Veil', 'Eternal Lullaby').

“The Art Of Letting Go” is yet another success for Myles Kennedy. Efficient, catchy, well composed, this album is yet another demonstration of the talent of this humble and particularly gifted artist, bulimic of work and perfectionist, warm-hearted and extremely endearing.

LAST INTERVIEW
MYLES KENNEDY (SEPTEMBER 6TH, 2024)
We caught up with Myles Kennedy not to talk about Slash's latest album, or that of Alter Bridge, but about his third solo album, ‘The Art of Letting Go’...

OTHER REVIEWS
GABRIEL KELLER: Hope Despite Everything (2024)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - The structure of the compositions, the beautiful arrangements and the quality of the interpretation and production make “Hope Despite Everything” a real must-have.
ISSA: Another World (2024)
A.O.R. - Issa fails to master the elements necessary for his tribute to 80s AOR, and “Another World” fails to confirm the hopes its predecessor had raised.
