The wear and tear of time and weariness, or even discouragement, are notions that don't affect Ice-T, as biting and nasty as ever with Body Count. "Carnivore" was a great vintage, and the arrival of ‘Merciless’ makes our mouths water at the idea of returning to a violent, committed rap metal spirit.

The title and the hard-hitting cover are sure to be the talk of the town: this is a no-holds-barred band. Body Count show their mettle here. 'Merciless', 'Fuck What You Heard', 'Do Or Die' and 'Lying Motherfucka' are devastating missiles carved out of boiling metal rap, showing Ice-T at the top of his game, rapping with enormous fury. The choruses are hard-hitting, and the groovy Pantera-style envelope hurts, with an effective jumpy edge and ferociously slamming solos.

Body Count avoids repetition with the help of well-chosen guests. The Purge' and 'Psychopath' feature George Fisher and Joe Bad, from Cannibal Corpse and Fit For An Autopsy. The result is edgy, thrashy and Slayer-like, with a wickedness that's a joy to behold. 'Drug Lord', featuring Max Cavalera, is a highly effective slap in the face, designed to stir up the crowd. 'Live Forever', featuring Howard Jones of Killswitch Engage, is a thrash mosh with catchy clean vocals. But 'Comfortably Numb' is undoubtedly the star track, featuring David Gilmour and his legendary touch, perfectly suited to a seductive and powerful rap metal reworking.

“Merciless” is a new vintage from Body Count. In these troubled times, the band acts as a precious guide. Vindictive and raging, it shows that it has lost none of its legendary snarl.

PROGRESSIVE ROCK - Frost seems to have erased the shortcomings of his previous productions, and with “Life in the Wires”, he delivers his best album to date.
THE PINEAPPLE THIEF: Last To Run (2024)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - With “Last to Run”, Pineapple Thief plugs the guitars back in and picks up the pace for five (too short) tracks of excellent quality.
