Here is an album which, apart from the success it received at the time, also deserves to be listened to in order to put things in their place. Indeed, if the voice of Marc Storace is very close to the one of the late Bon Scott, it is not for all that the influences must be sought on the side of the band of the Young brothers.

Because it is well towards Accept or Judas Priest (period "British Steel") that we have to look, and the intro with the double drum of the eponymous opening track has the merit to put us directly in the bath while we keep the foot on the gas pedal until the last track, 'Russian Winter'. However, it would be reductive to compare Krokus to clones of anyone else. The band asserts its own identity and the album is both homogeneous and balanced, oscillating between the mid-tempo 'Screaming In The Night', the only track allowing to catch one's breath with the interlude 'White Din', the Hard-Rock anthems 'Stayed Awake All Night' and 'Stand And Be Counted', or the very rock'n'roll 'Eat The Rich' or 'Ready To Burn'.

All the titles deserve to be quoted because, even if we remain in a very typical 80's hard rock, it is the best of the time that it is about. So take a listen to this album to convince yourself that the appellation of AC/DC clones is not justified, even if it is as difficult not to tap your foot and headbang as when listening to most of the Angus Corporation albums.

OTHER REVIEWS
AEROSMITH: Permanent Vacation (1987)
HARD ROCK - "Permanent Vacation" is an album that manages to be commercial while remaining honest and spontaneous.
THE FLOWER KINGS: The Sum Of No Evil (2007)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - TFK fans will love this production... For others, "The Sum Of No Evil" is perhaps less accessible than previous albums not because of its complexity but rather because of the multiplicity of plans.
