Clone is marked by the arrival of a new singer, Andrew 'Mac' McDermott, who opens a new era for Threshold, the one of recognition...
The Threshold style is immediately recognizable, direct, and efficient with a lot riffs, the famous acoustic guitars with their characteristic sound, the keyboards in the background and the powerful and well calibrated voice. Nothing new then with always these fast parts interspersed with one or two more or less syrupy ballads. The only difference compared to the albums which will follow comes from the female choirs, numerous and scattered throughout the album.
Although the ingredients and constructions of Threshold's albums are almost identical, "Clone" remains for many fans one of the best albums of the band. Always anchored in a progressive metal where melody takes precedence over technicality, "Clone" proves to be a good gateway to discover a band with an amazing longevity.
