After a reformation and a controversial album ("Done With Mirror" - 1985), Aerosmith realizes its true come back with this excellent "Permanent Vacation". To do this, the band has added the services of the professionals of the hit that are Desmond Child and Jim Valance. Add Bruce Fairbairn to the production, Bob Rock and Mike Fraser behind the consoles and you get a real hard rock dream team. And the least we can say is that the result is up to the mark.

All the ingredients are gathered to offer us a reference in the field. Hits with the superb ballad 'Angel' and the groovy 'Rag Doll' and 'Dude (Looks Like A Lady)', big rock ('Magic Touch', 'Simoriah',...) and good delirium with the exotic 'Permanent Vacation', the very rock'n'roll 'Girl Keeps Coming Apart' and the cover of the Beatles 'I'm Down'. The band even goes so far as to offer us an instrumental worthy of a movie soundtrack and that they logically name 'The Movie'. Finally, this review would be incomplete if we did not point out that Aerosmith does not forget his blues roots, as well in the classic 'St. John' as in the more epic 'Hangman Jury'.

Tyler, Perry & Co. succeed in returning to the pantheon of hard rock with this album that manages to be commercial while remaining fundamentally honest and spontaneous. All the members of the band are at the top of their shape, in particular a Steven Tyler very in voice and a Joe Perry chiselling soli, without for all that the rest of the band is in rest behind its two figureheads. So, it is indeed a pivotal album for Aerosmith which marks its entry into a new era without denying its past.

POST ROCK - With "Frames", Oceansize crosses a stage, that to channel a ardour and an inspiration to propose less progressive and more atmospheric pieces.
KROKUS: Headhunter (1983)
HARD ROCK - "Headhunter" allows Krokus to finally move away from its pervasive influences from AC/DC.
