EVERON: Fantasma (PROGRESSIVE METAL): review / opinion to read on Music Waves

After a three-year silence, Everon is back in the spotlight with its third album: "Fantasma". Recorded in their own studio, Spacelab, this album has the particularity of belonging to a rather original category that I call neo-progressive metal. The description I'm about to give you should tell you more about "Fantasma" and by the same token about this appellation.

The connoisseurs will probably have guessed that Everon's music is somewhere between progressive metal and neo-progressive rock. The metal aspect is declined by the numerous riffs, rather heavy, which can be found almost everywhere. The neo-progressive aspect comes from the extensive use of keyboards (piano and synthesizer) and the extremely worked out instrumental harmonies. These two movements merge to offer a flood of sounds and chords, without the aggressiveness that often characterizes the metal style. The scale of the production only reinforces this feeling of amplitude.

Everon's talent lies in its ability to avoid boring during prolonged listening. This result comes from the alternation of very ample passages where all the instruments are mixed and more stripped passages where only the vocals and the keyboard (piano) or/and the acoustic guitar are heard. You won't find a single dissonance here. Harmony seems to be Everon's adage, who strives to make us feel the music rather than to impress us with his technique.

Without being unavoidable, "Fantasma" is a very endearing album. Whoever is looking for something original and relatively complex might not be satisfied. The lover of beautiful melodies will be delighted. - Official website
