"In spite of a filiation with AC/DC, this first album of Rhino Bucket allows to discover a spontaneous and sincere band bringing a welcome wind of freshness."

Would AC/DC have recorded a record with Bon Scott, without this opus being born? This is a question that can quickly come to mind when listening to the first bars of this "Rhino Bucket", as Georg Dolivo's voice, the direct riffs and the binary rhythmic remind us of them... However, despite an obvious kinship, it would be unfair to confine Rhino Bucket to the role of a simple AC/DC clone, as the American combo shows a refreshing conviction and sincerity.
Of course, the hard-rock boogie of 'One Night Stand' in spite of a bass more groovy than Cliff Williams' or 'Train Ride' and its intro close to 'Dog Eat Dog' seem straight out of the Young brothers' imagination. It is also undeniable that 'Going Down Tonight' would not have shocked in the middle of the titles of "Back In Black", nor 'Even The Sun Goes Down' among those of "Powerage". But damn, these tracks are efficient and catchy even if the last one is a little less irresistible. It should be noted that with 'Blood On The Cross', a heavier track but having a little difficulty to take off, these two pieces mark both a slight in quality but also a transition to the last four tracks trying to move away from the imposing shadow of the big Australian brother.
Indeed, 'Shot Down' proposes a US rock flirting with sounds closer to the Rolling Stones, in particular on the verses letting guess some piano notes in the background. As for the final doublet, it is composed of a 'Inside/Outside' with US hard-rock intonations, with a direct and effective riff and a chorus in the form of an anthem, while 'Ride The Rhino' is a real tornado with a sustained rhythm, even if some guitar attacks are not without reminding a certain "Let There Be Rock".
Apart from this blistering final, we will insist on 'Beg For Your Love' with its riff flirting with sleaze, its heady chorus and especially its variations of tempo and other breaks and covers which make this title particularly catchy, and this until a wild final. The other summit of this album is constituted by the excellent 'Going Down Tonight', endowed with a perfectly mastered rise in power and a federative chorus,
Rhino Bucket doesn't revolutionize the genre and still suffers from an invasive filiation. However, the spontaneity and the efficiency of its music provoke a wind of freshness which sweeps away these defects and allows us to spend a very good moment. - Official website
