"If "One Second" seems much less Heavy Metal than its predecessor, Paradise Lost nevertheless manages to keep its identity and offers once again a great record."

Two years after a "Draconian Times" unanimously acclaimed by the critics and the fans, Paradise Lost comes back with a new album. But this time they chose to evolve and open up to new sounds with the help of their producer Sank from the electronic scene.
The album starts very strong with two absolutely unstoppable tracks: 'One Second' and 'Say just words'. The first one starts gently with some piano notes and shows the progress made on the vocals by Nick Holmes. 'Say just words' is the single, and it's a real hit. The marriage between the guitars and the slightly electro sounds is perfect.
If the whole seems much less heavy metal than in the past, the band seems to be very comfortable in this new musical approach with a lot of tracks that stand out. 'Blood of another' is very powerful and gives a real kick, 'Disappear' is dark and enhanced by beautiful keyboards while 'Mercy' stands out by its atmosphere and its unstoppable chorus.
The tone of 'One Second' is very dark giving the band an almost gothic feel. No title appears superfluous and the whole is of an incredible richness. Even if some tracks will require some efforts, this record really has the colors of the eternity. Paradise Lost signs thus a second great record and manages to evolve without breaking its image of underground band. It is not given to everyone... - Official website
