"A band formed by the former keyboard of Thin Lizzy, Dare marries in this "Out Of The Silence" the originality, the authenticity, the enthusiasm and the emotion to make one of the summits of the Melodic Rock."

Dare is the band formed by Darren Wharton, Thin Lizzy's keyboard player, from 1983 onwards, and his sidekick Brian Cox, also on keyboards. If you are of those that the presence of this instrument makes you suspicious, give anyway a chance to this "Out Of The Silence" which could well convince you that, well used, the keyboards do not condemn the tracks to fall in a cheesy music. On the contrary, and it is the case here, they can give a superior scale to the compositions.

Because emotion is at the heart of "Out Of The Silence" and to achieve it, the palette used by Dare seems limitless. Besides the unavoidable keyboards, just as capable of bringing power ("Into The Fire") as of offering enthusiastic flights ("The Raindance") or intimist passages ("Don't Let Go"), We find the warm and bewitching voice of Darren Wharton compensating a certain lack of power by a great sensitivity, without forgetting the genius of Vinny Burns (ex Ten) who, instead of disappearing in the middle of the omnipresent keyboards, comes to illuminate each title of brilliant soli.

The emotion is unavoidable but it is also varied. The ballads are obviously present but they are not mawkish. And if "Nothing Is Stronger Than Love" translates the power of feelings, "Under The Sun" is both soaring and bewitching. The hard FM is melodic and enthusiastic and takes us in intoxicating rides ("Into The Fire", "Runaway" or "Heartbreaker"). The mid-tempos bewitch ("King Of Spades"), surprise ("The Raindance" and its bases worthy of a jig) and can be both powerful and melancholic ("Return The Heart"). And it is on "Don't Let Go" with its superb piano introduction, its convoluted structure and its hypnotizing instrumental break that ends this journey in the heart of this monument of melodic rock.

"Out Of The Silence" is simply a summit of what melodic rock can offer when it knows how to marry elements such as originality, authenticity, enthusiasm and emotion. Dare bewitches you and then takes you to the heights from which you can see a musical landscape as varied as hypnotizing before your eyes and ears.

OTHER REVIEWS
YNGWIE MALMSTEEN: Trilogy (1986)
MELODIC METAL - First album of the FM period of Yngwie Malmsteen, Trilogy is a total success.
JUDAS PRIEST: Sin After Sin (1977)
HEAVY METAL - "Sin After Sin" offers a muscular and rhythmic Hard Rock for the time. Close to the previous opus, Judas Priest hardened the tone significantly to obtain a sound close to what will soon be called Heavy Metal.
