"Mixing extreme and progressive Metal, "Cybion" is a complex album, without concession in the mixture of the genres and of an originality in any test."

For many years, we can observe the rapprochement of extreme metal with progressive music. Excellent bands have emerged in this perspective such as Cynic or Opeth but one album was missing. An album that would open a multitude of doors, a kind of synthesis of what is currently observed to finally be able to move forward. And at this point, I won't really surprise you by saying that with Kalisia's first real album, "something has finally really happened".
It must be said that the band has been working. Since their demo, "Skies" (remastered on a second CD with the digipack edition, as well as four covers), which had made a lot of noise in the mid-90s, the band had been working on an album with a Dantesque concept. A single song, cut into chapters, which tells an improbably complex story for seventy-one minutes. In order to serve this ambitious work, Kalisia did not back down from anything and the album is thus a real compendium of good ideas and innovations. Technical and fast passages, devastating riffs, electro passages, saxophone, flute, symphonic elements... The album is a synthesis of a large number of elements that fit together perfectly.
The whole could have been indigestible but it is not the case. It would be inaccurate to say that it's coherent, at least in the sense in which we usually hear it. There are very few themes in the different pieces and the whole is very eclectic, but the fact is that there are no shocking transitions. This cohesion is explained by a sound that is always dynamic, even in the quieter passages (so listen to this drum sound, brutal and powerful). A real innovation comes from the use of vocals. Death vocals follow without any problem female vocals or robotic voices or even Gregorian choirs, without having the impression of entities that respond to each other. Indeed, one of the ideas of "Cybion" is that we all belong to a whole. This alternation of voices merging into each other effectively illustrates this.
When the last notes come to an end, it is impossible to have remained indifferent to this musical trauma. Kalisia has perfectly digested two decades of music, and launches in the metal landscape a strange album, without concession in the mix of genres. By drawing the best of these influences and delivering an album that may not be perfect, but is purely original, they have achieved the ultimate amalgamation that allows us to be optimistic about the future of metal. Quite simply. - Official website
