Freak Kitchen is the band created by the whimsical Swedish guitarist Mattias "IA" Eklundh. The latter has already made a name for himself in the Metal scene thanks to his impressive technique and an easily recognizable identity. It is thus logical that this "Appetizer" is strongly influenced by its progenitor who offers us an original and very well realized music.

Freak Kitchen works in a kind of Pop-Hard-Rock-Metal-Melodic with immediate chorus. Each title is crossed by a solo as crazy as improbable in a general good mood even if the approached subjects are not always joyful. But in this case, Freak Kitchen manages to treat the whole with derision. Eklundh's playing is the symbol of this state of mind, the virtuoso always giving the sensation of having fun and putting his technique in the background. The two instrumentals 'Paperdance' and 'The New Part' are the best examples, varying the ambiences with some passages close to Joe Satriani.

Freak Kitchen is able to vary the tempos and uses a rather vast rhythmic palette. From the introductory 'Blind' with its deceptively simple structure, to the semi-ballad 'Hollow', passing by the heavy 'Lie Freedom' and the irresistible 'See You In Pittsburgh' whose riff inevitably makes us think of Metallica, the trio maintains our attention throughout the 12 tracks of this "Appetizer".

If Mattias Eklundh is not a newcomer, Freak Kitchen is nevertheless a superb discovery that transgresses the borders of different musical styles ranging from Pop to Melodic Metal, through Fusion, Hard-Rock and Progressive. And to crown it all, the trio comes to insufflate a freshness and an infectious enthusiasm with a spontaneity and a disconcerting technical ease. We ask for more!

JUDAS PRIEST: Killing Machine (1979)
HEAVY METAL - Thanks to this "Killing Machine" close to perfection, Judas Priest imposes itself as a legitimate precursor of the movement to come in Heavy Metal.
SHAKRA: Everest (2009)
MELODIC HARD ROCK - Very inspired by Gotthard, "Everest" is a quality album from a band that must now forge its own identity.
