Conception is the first band of guitarist Tore Ostby, who left to found ARK afterwards. The Last Sunset is the first album of the band and in progressive metal (or even metal at all), this album is a real masterpiece.

Those who have listened to ARK know that Tore Ostby likes to mix metal and flamenco. His incandescent, illuminated and so original playing dope this album from end to end and takes us to another dimension. We go from big and complex metal riffs to fine hispanic and enchanting melodies, without it sounding strange.

From the very first notes of "War Of Hate", the serious things start since Tore introduces these flamenco passages (very technical by the way) in the riffs themselves, wild classical guitar chords coming from elsewhere. "Bowed Down With Sorrow" is a melodic and dark track and is followed by the sumptuous "Fairy's Dance" with its aerial chorus and masterful solo. "Another World" and its inhuman riff will convince the most recalcitrant that we have in our hands a phenomenon. The solo of this title, in the greatest progressive tradition, is a pure marvel. The last track, "Among The Gods", is aptly named since it takes Conception beyond the stratosphere. Sublime riffs, flamenco melodies, creepy solos: everything is said in this epic track of more than ten minutes that closes this album in the best way imaginable.

The Last Sunset is the birth of an exceptional, flamboyant, original and at times possessed guitar-hero. Tore Ostby is one of those guitarists who could save metal from the clichés it is often subject to. It would also be unfair to forget to mention the talent of other musicians. The rhythm section is of exemplary precision and R.Khan's powerful vocals are always right.

All progressive metal fans should discover this shamefully underestimated album without further delay. Complex riffs, unstoppable melodies and originality are there. It would be a shame to miss this masterpiece.
