"Close to Evanescence or even Within Temptation, "Divanity" is a highly recommendable album of very good quality."

The Murder Of My Sweet is Daniel's new project, realized with the complicity of guitarist and friend Daniel Palmqvist, old Mind's Eye comrade Johan Niemann and especially a newcomer, the young singer Angelica Rylin, who thus begins her musical career! Daniel Flores sticks to the drums this time and co-signed all the tracks with Angelica. Keyboardist Andreas Lindhal completes the formation.

"Divanity" will undoubtedly be compared to the productions metal bands more or less gothic with female vocals, and especially to Evanescence and Within Temptation. In fact, if there are some common points, it's mainly because of the female vocals and the relatively dark tone of the melodies as well as the use of some electronic loops and a certain emphasis coupled with the metal style. Angelica Rylin's voice is clear, as powerful as it is accurate and passionate but quite different from those of the above-mentioned bands because it is rather in a medium, even low register.

The repertoire seems at the beginning mainly based on vocals and keyboards with the leaded rhythm guitar and the rhythm section playing only an accompaniment role but a careful listening reveals notable differences according to the tracks, with in particular rhythmic complexities hardly detectable on several songs, so much the melodies are catchy. The Murder Of My Sweet isn't only in epic and gothic tones either, even if tracks like "Follow The rain" make the ground tremble with their hammered rhythm and their obvious heaviness, nevertheless counterbalanced here and there by some subtleties in the choruses. Flores also likes the rather jerky rhythms, which will remind the connoisseurs of Mind's Eye's last album to date, "A gentleman's hurricane", of which we find echoes here. But the tracks of "Divanity" go to the essential with a certain degree of sophistication. The listener might even saturate a bit, as the whole can be thunderous and powerful. For example, "Bullet" and "Revolution" are particularly exhausting, while "Kiss Of Death", "Storms Of The Sea" or "Valerie" present more lyrical and catchy melodies while keeping a very dynamic rhythmic framework.

The bravura track of the album is the definitely progressive sequel "Death Of A Movie Star" which is openly inspired by Queen, but also the world of the musical, like "Phantom Of The Opera". The long track of more than 7 minutes with multiple sections, completed by sound effects, finally includes quiet parts and highlights beautiful and complex choirs, worthy of the famous English quartet or Shadow Gallery. It is in this more contrasted, definitely romantic and symphonic piece that the album reaches the top of its capacities with a certain originality.

"Divanity" is therefore a highly recommendable album of very good quality. We can only hope that the band won't leave the last track without a sequel and will know how to evolve in this direction by adding more variety in its rhythms along the tracks and especially more quiet parts. But there's already plenty to rejoice about with this first effort full of good melodies!

A.O.R. - "Mindfields" can claim to be one of the best albums of Toto who is definitely a great and powerful AOR band and an uncontested master of the genre!

HARDCORE - Body Count may not be a precursor of Rap Metal, but he brought to the genre his letters of nobility with this first unavoidable album.
