The first originality of "Wait" is that it was written and released in Asia in 1996 and did not appear in Europe until 2003. The second originality of "Wait" is to offer an album that at first glance seems to have been heard over and over again in the 80s.

The track at the beginning, strongly resembling U2's pop, is primarily responsible for this sensation. The second, worthy of a 70s thriller series (remember the music of The Shaft) only confirms this state of affairs. And all along the album, you won't fail to be amazed by the evolutions of the different tracks building an album with a completely outdated and yet terribly current and totally unbridled inspiration.

Overall, Steelheart's music is reminiscent of the band "Ritual" for its lack of guidelines and its style of drawing from different musical genres. The difference comes from the melodic and technical inspirations clearly coming from the 80s.

I kept for the end the major element that allows Steelheart to take off and to position itself as an absolutely unavoidable album: the voice. Whatever its intonation or register, it integrates perfectly. Its style can be compared to the voice of Axl Rose from the Guns'n'Roses. The timbre is not the same but the leaps between forced, high and nasal and normal voices are characteristic. The track "Take A Little Time" only reinforces the comparison.

"Wait" is a varied melodic rock album that has brilliantly managed to make something new out of something old. The tracks are almost all unstoppable and precise. The ballads are a real heartbreaker, the energetic tracks take us into a whirlwind of different sensations, each as pleasant as the next. Even if Steelheart does not meet the usual criteria it could not fail to be present in these pages.

CONCEPTION: Parallel Minds (1994)
PROGRESSIVE METAL - Conception forged a strong identity from the first album and renews itself just the right way on this "Parallel Minds".
SYZYGY: The Allegory Of Light (2003)
PROGRESSIVE ROCK - Great musical moment, "The Allegory Of Light" should enchant the nostalgic of the 70's and seduce the most demanding among us in terms of originality.
