Glam Rock is back! Indeed, behind the Poodles and Wig Wam have just rushed Crazy Lyxx and... Crashdiet which interests us today while waiting for the return of Ratt soon with its new album. Motley Crue, who in 2008 had concocted a rather nice album for us ("Saints of Los Angeles"), now has a significant number of talented little brothers.

Today's Glam, often combined with Hard FM, is able to convince a wider audience than in the past. The characteristic clothing and capillary elucubrations of the genre are still present, but the attraction is elsewhere. The choice to refine the melodies, to complicate the structures of the songs a little bit without losing the hymnic effect often sought is the current trend.

Crashdiet's Swedes on this "Generation Wild" attempt a daring borderline crossing between Def Lep (the choirs) and Motley Crue (the rhythms), Pretty Maids (the riffs) and Ratt (the moods), Bon Jovi (the melodies) and Twisted Sister (the crazy and festive side). The band combines or alternates with happiness controlled riffs, heady melodies, choirs full of emphasis, attractive vocals and promising rhythms.

This album is therefore very varied. "I'm a Rebel" snatches everything on its punk passage, "Save Her" is pure FM, "Bound to Fall", "Down With the Dust", "So Alive" and "Amageddon" bring out the riff and anthem box, "Beautiful Pain", bal'hard very successful, distils an improbable muscular tenderness and the enormous "Chemical" brings us an amazing chorus and an intro that reminds us of Motorhead's "Dancing on Your Grave".

You will have understood it, this record is enjoyable, puts you in a good mood, does not take itself seriously and will allow you to headbang for long minutes.

PROGRESSIVE ROCK - This "Arena" is riding the crest of the Asia wave, and will only be dethroned many years later by "Omega" when the band re-forms in its original line-up.
