Barely two years after a critically acclaimed "All Seeing Eye", the Frenchmen of Klone pursue their long road to a well-deserved consecration. To the question of knowing what the careful listening of the previous album have led us to expect, moving away from the progressive death of the beginnings, will it come to life on "Black Days"? The answer is yes: Klone has found its way and now plunges us into the meanderings of a postmodern progressive metal with atmospheres varying between moody and grunge...

After the opening track "Rite Of Passage", the combo proceeds with the nervous "Spiral Down", a real synthetic patchwork of their influences, between rumbling riffs that could evoke Tool, melancholic atmospheric ambiances a la Opeth, thrashy nervous passages, and a little grunge side a la Alice In Chains, especially given by Yann Ligner's totally hallucinating singing... In this matter, the hoarse tessitura of the one who also officiates in Mistaken Element emphasizes the tortured aspect of the compositions which are from now on recognisable between all. On the hypnotic side, we note an instrumental variation on the same theme with the return of the saxophones so dear to Klone ("Closed Season"), an interlude totally in keeping with the dark and dissonant content of the whole.

Klone's approach proves to be unbeatable and absolutely addictive for those who will appreciate it at its true value. Indeed, "Black Days" is a jewel from which eleven homogeneous tracks emerge with a perfect balance between bewitchment and dynamism... Klone is now an unavoidable combo to be classified in the category of unclassifiable bands, so much its identity is clean with a sound beyond comparison

OTHER REVIEWS
SLAYER: Hell Awaits (1985)
THRASH - Rather coldly welcomed at the time, "Hell Awaits" is today hailed as an essential of Slayer and Thrash in general, as well as its successors.
SLAYER: Reign In Blood (1986)
THRASH - 'Reign In Blood' is an absolute myth, the very definition of a genre and probably its most obvious masterpiece.
