Yogi Lang, frontman of RPWL, finally tries his hand at soloist adventure with this first opus. After more than 10 years with the German band, the man has finally decided to show the extent of his talent with this "No Decoder" which doesn't bring much upheaval in the musical direction the man had taken with the RPWL of "God Has Failed" 10 years earlier.
Yogi's voice is still as silky and close to David Gilmour, the different effects used surely compensate for the lack of texture. Pratt's bass hums and is the main instrument of a few tracks ('A Million Miles Away'), the guitar soli are quite numerous and finally the theme of this record continuously oscillates between "Wish You Were Here" and "A Momentary Laps Of Reason" of Pink Floyd often achieving a rather successful split.
Some tracks, often carried by an acoustic guitar, could have ended up on the German band's albums such as 'Say Goodbye', 'A Better Place For Me', 'Our Modern World', while 'Sail Away', illuminated by a haunting saxophone soli. 'Sensvalue' is an instrumental that is completely offbeat in this delivery since its sustained rhythm totally takes the listener out of a soft lethargy.
Some will shout scandal and shameful plagiarism while others will underline the success in the art of prolonging Floyd's soul. If this first solo album has no great surprise when you know Yogi Lang's background, it is nevertheless a success.
