They could well become the custodians of a new subgenre, the power AOR, but Eclipse has not yet totally convinced with this second album. The style is now well defined: big guitars and power riffs in the verses, and surprise, a very American AOR chorus that comes behind. The recipe hits the mark on the first track, "always standing", where the voice is reminiscent of Joey Tempest from Europe. The same goes for the next "all I do".

For the rest, a certain weariness settles in, especially after the ballad "I'll ask for you", which was quite unsuccessful. The last track, another sugar factory, acoustic this time, is more successful ("better world").

This composing problem is all the more embarrassing as the musicians, who still seem quite young, show strong qualities. In the lead, guitarist Magnus Henriksson, incredible versatility, who can play note for note Gary Moore in the opening track, and deliver an almost ironic copy of Malmsteen on "noting between us". A wink that makes sense with Olausson on keyboards, who has been accompanying our guitar hero with an oversized ego for a long time.

If Eclipse already has the know-how and skills of the Swedish school, it lacks the little something extra that would make this "second to none" indispensable. The objective seems quite reasonable with such potential.
