Danger Danger is a New York band formed in 1987 by the ex-members of Hotshot, namely the bassist Bruno Ravel, the drummer Steve West and the singer Mike Pont, as well as the guitarist Al Pitrelli (future Asia, Megadeth, TransSiberian Orchestra...) to whom the keyboardist Kasey Smith officiating until then within Get With It joined. The replacement of Pont and Pitrelli, who left to reform Hotshot, by Ted Poley (ex Prophet) and Andy Timmons gives its definitive line-up to the quintet which just returned to the studio for its first eponymous album.

Superbly produced by Lance Quinn (Bon Jovi, Tobruk, Lita Ford, Talking Heads...), "Danger Danger" combines energy, melody, and dynamics, the whole in a flawless interpretation that directly places the Americans in the leading group of the genre, a little bit like if Bon Jovi had mated with Warrant. Add to this a very high level of musicians among whom Andy Timmons with his amazing technique and feeling, Bruno Ravel who muscles each track with his powerful and groovy bass, keyboards that are not invasive and share equally the roles with the guitar and a singer with a very pleasant voice.

Danger Danger offers us first of all two irresistible singles: 'Naughty Naughty' and 'Bang Bang', small pearls of a sexy and catchy FM party-metal. In a still festive but more direct style, 'Saturday Nite' and 'Turn It On' are straight to the point. Ravel and West (exclusive composers of all the tracks) don't hesitate either to go towards Def Leppard's on the occasion of 'Don't Walk Away', a mid-tempo that sounds like it was taken from the sessions of "Hysteria", or of a more muscular 'Boys Will Be Boys'. 'Under The Gun' and its piano intro followed by an acceleration worthy of the best Tobruk, the very catchy 'Rock America', the deliciously sweet AOR of 'Feels Like Love', the ballad 'One Step From Paradise', calibrated for the US radios, or the more bluesy 'Live It Up' with its harmonica, are so many examples of the variety of the proposed titles without any problem of cohesion.

Danger Danger is the typical example of a band with obvious commercial aims which remains however unstoppable thanks to qualities of composition and interpretation very largely above the batch. The mercantile aspect is immediately forgotten, submerged by the pleasure and the good mood which invade us. The head shakes, the eyes sparkle and the face lights up with a huge smile. "Danger Danger" is a must-have in the discotheque of all lovers of melodic and festive hard rock.
