"The spectre of Def Leppard is still as present in this "Idolizer" which will give great pleasure to the nostalgics."

Never before has a chronicle been written so quickly. Never has a record been so close to its predecessor. Therefore, the review of "Time Elevation" (2009) applies to this "Idolizer" in every aspects.

The spectre of Def Leppard is still as present as ever, and only the surprise effect has faded away. For the rest, everything that friend Lynott indicated in the above-mentioned chronicle applies to the letter here, namely that Grand Design is a troubling clone of Def Leppard first period. The feeling of entering a temporal rift is omnipresent but we have here a Def Leppard that hasn't yet made the big leap from "Hysteria".

It's still very well done, bluffing even. But the surprise effect which had globally played in favour of the previous opus doesn't work as much here. For all that, Grand Design's approach seems to be marked by a deep sincerity. And if this "Idolizer" doesn't shine by its originality, we have to admit that we are here much closer to respectful homage than shameless plagiarism.

"Idolizer" is then to be reserved to the unconditional fans who will take great pleasure in listening to this nostalgic exercise and who will find the note a bit hard, this one essentially sanctioning the lack of originality of this excellent clone.

ROCK - Even if "Stand Up" is only the second album of the band, it is the real baptism act of Jethro Tull.

ATMOSPHERIC ROCK - Without any demonstration, all in subtlety, "The Brink" is one of the best atmospheric rock albums of recent years.
