Esqarial is one of those promising bands that didn't manage to break through and died out in general indifference. After two albums that were so confidential that they could not be found, the band released "Inheritance" in 2004, which surprised a lot of Polish metal fans.

Like Into Eternity, Esqarial mixes Death, Thrash and Progressive Metal. This kind of exercise was not very common at that time and often resulted in a heterogeneous mix with an invasive technicality and/or a lack of melody (Zero Hour for example). And that's where Esqarial comes into its own. The technical level displayed by the musicians is well above average, with two guitarists in particular offering ultra-square rhythmics and limpid soli. The influence of the legends of electric guitar can be felt (Vai, Satriani) and the fluid and light playing combined to perfection with the ultra heavy metal rhythms of Jeff Loomis or Jeff Walker takes its toll. A track like 'The Source Of Constraint' is a perfect example.

The rhythm section is not to be outdone and the famous blasts so dear to Death Metal are alternated with a very fine playing, which a certain Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) would not deny. We go from supersonic tempos to slower and heavier parts through beautiful acoustic passages. As for the vocals, mostly shouted, some progress is possible, but fortunately, the singer Pajok lays down his vocal lines in an efficient and fair way.

"Inheritance" is a solid album, coherent from start to finish, which is a pleasure to listen to. If the guitar lovers will get their share for sure, the fans of extreme Metal in search of new sensations as well as the amateurs of progressive who are not afraid of screamed vocals could be pleasantly surprised.
