"Riversea has certainly delivered one of the albums of the year 2012 in the atmospheric rock genre."

Initially formed in 2006, the Riversea duo (Marc Atkinson and Brendan Eyre) took six years to give birth to "Out Of An Ancient World". But this long gestation should allow the two acolytes a smashing entry in the universe of the atmospheric rock.

With the exception of The Fallen and Still Home which venture (brilliantly!) towards resolutely rock lands, the tracks generally opt for piano introductions, mid-tempo rhythms and numerous electric guitar solos (Halo with Bryan Josh / Mostly Autumn, Eden, Freeze The Frame). The layers of keyboards are marvelous and contribute to reinforce this soaring atmosphere like Falling Stars benefiting from a round and ample sound.

As for the vocals, they are close to excellence. First of all, there is the voice of Marc Atkinson - present on the last two albums of Nine Stones Close but who has just announced his departure to pursue his solo career - suave, deep and captivating, inevitably the strong point of this album. But also those of the guests, Olivia Sparnenn (Mostly Autumn) on the final of The Song or the vocal harmonies of Louise Dawson and Janine Atkinson Benn on the other tracks.

The production is very good too: ample, deep and a little more carried on the bass and the vibrations to underline the emotional character of the opus. The work of goldsmith made on the mix is excellent, precise and exacerbates the different emotions that the duo wants to make us pass through its music.

When in addition, Riversea succeeds in creating an unstoppable ballad (Wiser) worthy of the greatest (Bird Of Paradise of Snowy White) where the acidulous guitar of Ashley Mulford in total freedom rubs with these references, it becomes very difficult to resist the power of attraction of this opus.

If in this style of music, the lack of diversity can sometimes cause a certain weariness, it is nothing here. Riversea has simply delivered the album of the year in the atmospheric movement, beating Harvest, Frequency Drift and Mostly Autumn.

SHY: Unfinished Business (2002)
A.O.R. - Carried by a Mills and a Harris at the top of their art, Shy offers us what is certainly his best album since "Excess All Areas".
GREAT WHITE: Psycho City (1992)
HARD ROCK - Although using the same elements as on his previous album, Great White still manages to make "Psycho City" a new monument to the glory of his music.
