These are musicians who deserve to be known and recognized... like the underestimated Riverside, they provide a progressive music full of ambiences and unstoppable melodies. How to talk about a crush while remaining impartial is a cruel dilemma... This album is not only good, but above all a near masterpiece.

Retrospective they are musicians who have a definite taste for long compositions without being convoluted, full of delicate climates, hushed atmospheres and twists and turns. We could describe them as progressive in the purest sense of the word.

So here we are immersed in a universe composed of nine resorts with such different atmospheres, but always marked by a certain coldness. The voice is really the strong point of this group, their identity. It is strangely reminiscent of Riverside because it knows how to handle the different intonations and is in turn suave and aggressive, seductive and rough. The guitar weaves melodic and rhythmic lines with softness and emotion, sometimes with heavier moments and more metal-like rhythms. And finally drums are both strong and impressive, becoming jazzy or more metal, they know how to change their skin to dress compositions with softness or rage.

The songs follow one another and do not resemble each other, dead times are rare, but necessary to allow us to catch our breath. We will be able to appreciate without moderation the ultimate beauty of 'The End Of The Winter Lethargy' or 'Swallow The Green Tones' while some songs will seem more classical to prog fans, while remaining nevertheless of an excellent level.

Retrospective is a kind of iron glove in a velvet hand, painting strong emotions, nourished by melancholy. Their music romantic, well constructed and skilfully performed; you can only listen to it over and over again without ever getting tired of it.

GREAT WHITE: Psycho City (1992)
HARD ROCK - Although using the same elements as on his previous album, Great White still manages to make "Psycho City" a new monument to the glory of his music.
SAXON: Dogs Of War (1995)
MELODIC METAL - "Dogs Of War" is a great success, and revives Saxon's career which was slightly out of breath
