A brief look at the titles of this new Perfect Circle album will certainly intrigue. Titles that we have already heard in the field of variety? Shocking !

Emotive is indeed an album of covers. But knowing all the talent that the members of Perfect Circle have, it was a sure bet that they would succeed in giving us new sensations on songs that were heard many times on the radio.

For a first try, it's a masterstroke. It was hard to imagine that we could make songs like Marvin Gaye's "what's going on" even duller, but they did. Terne is not the only qualifier. It is possible to add boring, perhaps even insignificant.

The songs are almost all covered in the same way: weak vocals, guitars repeating two or three bars in a loop, absence of riffs, etc... Only "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme" has the luxury of deviating from this schema to offer us a porridge of voices and sounds even more outrageous, very close to Marilyn Manson and his amusing cover of sweet Dreams but very far from having the same result.

In conclusion, Emotive is a very bad album title compared to the content you can find there. Everything is soft, flat, without strength. We can wonder if a "superior force" has not forced them to produce this thing very much in the era of time but to light years of what a fan expects.
