Mother Earth is the second album of the Dutch band Within Temptation. On their first album and the EP that followed, they proposed an atmospheric metal with a Gothic tendency. The whole thing was certainly quite nice but handicapped by male  vocals unsuited to Sharon Den Adel's magnificent voice.

For this second opus, the group leaves only Sharon sing and chooses to soften its music a little. The strength of Mother Earth comes from the voice. Very soft, it is able to give a symphonic side to the titles by its ability to go quite high in the high notes. As for music, we find the common ingredients of the genre. Big riffs, choirs, solos, etc. The content is even enhanced with symphonic passages of the most beautiful effect. It's melodious, fast and very efficient.

"Mother Earth" is a very beautiful metal album that positions itself between gothic and melodic. Three years after its release, the band continues to tour to promote it. Will they be able to give a successor as good ?

LAST INTERVIEW
WITHIN TEMPTATION (NOVEMBER 2018)
Taking advantage of Within Temptation's great European tour, we met Sharon Den Adel who confided without restraint in her life as an artist, a woman, a mother, a daughter,... A plunge into the intimacy of this entire artist.

OTHER REVIEWS
VANDEN PLAS: Far Off Grace (1999)
PROGRESSIVE METAL - If bands like Dream Theater practice a symphonic progressive and technical metal without time constraints and which can seem unattractive, Vanden Plas is more on a niche calibrated for energy with a very pleasant simplicity and conciseness.
BEYOND TWILIGHT: The Devils Hall Of Fame (2001)
PROGRESSIVE METAL - Not perfect, The Devil's Hall of Fame is an important element in the history of Beyond Twilight, and beyond, in a unique and fascinating progressive metal style.
