Who doesn't know East Of Eden? A lot of people and it's a pity. Because here is one of the precursor bands of the progressive music. Complete and historical album, "Mercator Projected" is to be stored at the sides of "In The Court..." of King Crimson.
In 1969, with its first record "Mercator Projected", the group innovates. At that remote time, few bands offered a rock music mixing Blues, Jazz, Classical, Psychedelic, Ethnic genres thanks to the presence of a violin, a harmonica, a saxophone or a flute.
Through this abundance of ideas we find sounds close to Jethro Tull ("Isadora", "Centaur Woman...), King Crimson, Mahavishnu Orchestra even Franck Zappa ("In The Stable...", "Waterways") or the first Floyd ("Bathers"). But the qualities of the group do not stop there. On the same title, the music passes cheerfully from one genre to the other. The Indian blues-rock of "Centaur Woman" turns little by little into a jazzy groove to arrive on a bass solo of almost 3 minutes. This peculiarity of Progressive music, which means that when a song starts, its development remains random, defines well the music of East Of Eden.
From Moody Blues to Soft Machine through Procol Harum, "Mercator Projected" is very representative of the rock of the time. The numerous ambiences allow the listener to never get bored and the experienced musicians perfectly exploit the creative potential of this still undefined genre. an album to listen to without moderation. - Official website
