Wrongly considered to be the first album of Beyond Twilight, The Devil's Hall of Fame is in fact only the beginning of a second movement, Zierler's delirious epic having started years before with a first band named... Twilight.

And as such, it would be a shame to focus on the presence of Jorn Lande in the cast, as Zierler and his mates already develop on this album an atmosphere peculiar to their kingdom beyond the twilight.

A kind of dark and introverted Ayreon, depraved alter-ego of the artist, the hero of the story at the heart of the concept wanders in the meanders of his mind, like a listener assailed by terrifying sound visions; a register in which Lande excels, as he demonstrates on the title track, or on 'Shadowland', where the epic rubs shoulders with the unhealthy and the dark, with a singular "touch" that is unique to Beyond Twilight.

Not perfect, but essential for the fan, The Devil's Hall of Fame is an important element in the history of Beyond Twilight, and beyond, in a unique and fascinating progressive metal style.
