Here we have the Airbourne Australians again with their third LP called Black Dog Barking. this time, let's take a look around the web to see what reviewers think of this outing. Excerpts : "...worthy son of AC/DC, Rose Tatoo and Kiss...","...fuckin' attitude...","...big bluesy riffs, powerful chorus...","...entertaining face of The Rock...release side...", "...aggressive, impulsive, energetic, spontaneous...","...a propensity to kick..."...  That sounds great !

As for the succession of AC/DC, it is clear that the jackpot has been hit. As to whether this should be a question of inspiration or plagiarism, some will argue that Rock can only be played in referential mode because its first steps are now so old and it has given birth to so many bands and others will argue that when the inspiration is directed towards a totally copied performance it is certainly normal to complain. Anyway, Airbourne does AC/DC without any downside and visibly without shame, even if sometimes, on some choirs, the shadow of the Def Leppard of High'N' Dry glides surreptitiously.

Three chords, four when it's a party, always the same, played in bluesy boosted mode, that's what awaits you on the thirteen tracks, including bonus tracks, that make up this opus. It is undeniably energetic, aggressive and impulsive, but the other side of the coin only reflects redundant construction, melodic poverty and anaemic inspiration.

So maybe intellectualizing this approach to Hard Rock means missing the Australian's intentions to offer music that comes from the heart. But frankly, even if the elders willingly accept that the young Hardos who discover "the Beast" can have their own Angus gang, we can only remain very cautious when listening to this album, which is ultimately only worth the energy it gives off.
