Mission accomplished for Harmonic Generator. The project started in 2014 to release an EP of four tracks per year and then to gather them into an album is now materialized with the release of "Heart, Flesh, Skull & Bones". If the opus is first of all the result of a determined group work, it is above all the proof of the patent evolution of the music of the quintet from Marseille.
Indeed, the successive releases of "Heart", "Flesh" and "Skull" marked a progressive toughness of Harmonic Generator's rock, going from old school bluesy hard rock tracks ('I Feel Fine') to a fusion of stoner and grunge ('Something You Need To Know', 'The End') and then to tracks with an asserted punk rock ambiance ('Dreams & Tears', 'Things').
The release of "Heart, Flesh, Skull & Bones" is the occasion to discover "Bones", the last EP of the tetralogy, whose four tracks appear as a synthesis and a confirmation of the talent of the Phocaean group. From 'Built To Last', its sabbathian riff and its punk rhythmic to 'Stand As One' and its oriental atmosphere through the toolian 'New Day Rising', Harmonic Generator still raises the level of its compositions and asserts itself as the most interesting grunge band of the hexagonal scene. The perfect synthesis of all the influences of the band finds its climax with the excellent 'My Words', at the same time very melodic classic rock and rough grunge fire.
Considered in its context, "Heart, Flesh, Skull & Bones" is a very interesting album because it reveals not only the evolution of Harmonic Generator towards a more raw sound but also and especially the noticeable progression of the band in the quality of the compositions and the affirmation of its musical identity. For all those who would have had neither the time nor the desire to listen to the previous EPs, this album is to be discovered urgently because this endearing band has not said its last word. Far from it. - Official website
