The debut of Jethro Tull is quite Blues-Rock, and "Aqualung" marks a turning point for the band. A rather timid turning point because this album, though excellent, which allowed them to reach the top in Europe, remains a Blues Rock Folk with a progressive tendency... with a tendency only.

With "Thick as a Brick", a reference album, the Londoners set their two feet in progressive music. This record is only composed of one track ( halved to be pressed on vinyl) with a much more complex and eclectic composition than in the past, the sound being not far from that of "Aqualung". This work allowed them to reach the number one spot on the American charts shortly after its release.

Here our flutist, undisputed leader and charismatic Ian Anderson has really let loose. "Thick as a Brick" is a patchwork in which the master displays his genius. This mess is much more structured and ordered than it seems. Beautifully organized, it features many instruments, without at any point turning into a cacophony. Although complex, this record remains perfectly accessible, and this deserves to be emphasised. The atmosphere tinged with Folk, Blues, medieval music will transport you from flute solo, to electric guitar riff and acoustic guitar arpeggios of the brilliant Martin Barre. Ian Anderson's bouncy, witty voice will enchant you throughout the 44 minutes of this entertaining, varied, bouncy, rhythmic music... in short: Magic.

The masterpiece of this discreet band, but with an impressive track record, "Thick as a Brick" is a must in every respect. This absolute masterpiece will make you discover Jethro Tull's universe, whether you're a progressive rock fan, a rock fan or even just a music lover. It's just great fun!

ROCK - Back to the roots for Saga? Certainly, and this "Trust" will remind the good old time when "Worlds Apart" was at the top of the charts.

MELODIC HARD ROCK - "Tales of Rock'n' Roll" is not the masterpiece that could have been expected for the MSG's birthday but at least an honest record.
