Last Autumn's Dream, AOR's Swedish band, has stopped its activities in 2018 after fourteen albums produced in as many years of career. But Mikael Erlandsson, its visibly bored frontman-composer, decided to break the silence and create a new combo with a name quite close to that of his original band. Erlandsson has here called upon a few fine music players to lend him a hand. Jona Lee the keyboard man of H.E.A.T. is one of them, as well as Robban Bäck drummer at Mustasch (and ex-Eclipse), Claes Andreasson the bassist of Heartbreak Radio and Pontus Äkesson the guitarist of Moon Safari.

To say that this eponymous album is no more and no less than a new LAD opus is a step we won't hesitate to take. And even if this new group try to detach itself from the influences of its elder, the result is very close with its good and bad sides.

Despite a few slightly outdated choruses, let's put 'Breaking My Heart Again' and its beautiful solos, the peachy 'Glory' straight from a LAD album and 'Northern Light', whose folk assets take us back to Gary Moore and 'Over The Hills And Far Away', in the melodic success section. 'Rubicon Sign' and 'Crying For Love' are also worth mentioning, close to H.E.A.T. or Eclipse.

The rest ranges from the pleasant, but not very memorable in the long run, to the boring that should be forgotten. Among the acceptable ones are the ballad 'Sayonara Eyes' and its solo 'Mooresque', and the LAD-style 'Heaven Knows Your Name'. In the box of useless, let's mention 'I'm Done' and its Queen-like jolts (the first bars and a few guitars), the third ballad 'Victory' of outrageous classicism and 'Face The Music' where we meet Elton John and his piano - 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart' is not far away.

To conclude, we'll say that Autumn's Child has just released the fourteenth opus of Last Autumn's Dream and that he won't be on the podium of their works. Let's wait for the original to come and visit us, we might be lucky enough to come across a better vintage.
