A first EP is always a business card. It has even become the norm for all new bands launching their careers. That doesn't mean that it's the miracle recipe to make themselves known because thousands of them come out every year, all styles included. But at least this short format allows you to limit production costs and above all to test your audience. In terms of audience, Ghost Anthem doesn't really tackle the easiest part. Metalcore has become a breathless genre that has gone from hybrid to consensual or even formatted style in a few years. Yet this new Parisian band claims loud and clear the melodic metalcore label, a bias that makes it immediately interesting.

Melodic, Ghost Anthem's music is really. If influences such as Novelists and August Burns Red immediately come to mind, the music of the Parisians is distinguished by an abundant use of keyboards that give the tracks all their power and their catchy power. This is the case of the excellent 'I Found Hell' and 'The End Is Near' which are the two beacons of this 6 tracks EP. These titles reveal all the potential of Ghost Anthem who can envisage the future serenely if he continues in this way of a racy and melodic metalcore with sharp riffs.

For the rest, this first EP has of course some flaws, including a sometimes weak vocals ('Last Call For Wonderland') and some strange choices: why is the track 'Manifesto' and its catchy chorus so short?  But Ghost Anthem's will to get out of the straitjacket of strict metalcore and to flesh out their compositions with borrowings from heavy metal ('Searching For Heaven') and death metal ('Thorns') confirms that the band already has a strong personality. It is all the interest of this EP that lays the solid and interesting foundations of Ghost Anthem. Can't wait for the album.
