Founded in 2003, Lokurah started under the hardcore banner, then evolved by integrating thrash, death, grindcore and melodic elements. The band released a demo ("Lokurah") and two albums ("When the End Comes" and "The Time to Do Better"), produced by El Mobo (Plug-In) aka Moby. Not always spared by the critics, the band is one more time awaited at the turn for "Distorted Truth" whose recording was entrusted to Fredrik Nordström.

The beautiful cover between disenchanted superhero and apocalyptic vision invites to dive into this bubbling record. Lokurah continues the path taken with "The Time to Do Better", a road between infernal power and refined melodic touches. In this furnace of saturated guitars, frenzied rhythmics and hellish screams, some tracks stand out.

'Void Factory' in the first place is a good, snarling and energetic song, which develops around leaded riffs and percussive drums; it unites a simple clear voice and a snarling saturated vocal and offers variations that raise a breath of fresh air. The introduction of 'Copyrighted 666' is born on dissonant harmonies then quickly the fury is unleashed like a cry of nihilistic revolt with incisive and furious guitars. The beginning of 'In Vain' proposes some diffuse notes, crushed then by a heavy riff covered with melodic hints coming from the guitar soli. The intense groove of 'In These Grey Times' distorts the square structures of a style at the edge of thrash. Finally 'Defiled' oscillates between power, softness and finesse with a melodic vocal crushed by massive riffs. Some of the less surprising tracks are close to the ones mentioned above, but they lack a bit of variety to mark the spirits ('Faith Versus Reason', 'Intolerent' or 'Broken Ties').

Ten years after "The Time to Do Better", Lokurah increases its violence tenfold and offers a record magnified by a sublime cover and a concrete production. The very personal and totally mastered music of "Distorted Truth" is without concession like the productions of Napalm Death, Fear Factory or Nevermore. However, the record lacks a bit of diversity, a dose of variety. The band confirms the potential seen on "The Time to Do Better", without however transcending it and breaking out of a stylistic mold.

SIMPLE MINDS: Direction Of The Heart (2022)
ROCK - In spite of a part of recycling, "Direction Of The Heart" is an elegant and captivating album at the level of what Simple Minds propose regularly.
THE DEAD DAISIES: Radiance (2022)
HARD ROCK - The Dead Daisies privilege the efficiency with a direct approach and without too many embellishments but "Radiance" does not bear the comparison with its excellent predecessor.
