"Great Scott, Marty! Music Waves has made a step back in time four years by reviewing "8" released in 2009...." No, let's reassure Professor Emmet Brown, the editorial team of your favorite webzine did not make a space-time trip in a Delorean, it's simply that given the success of its mentee Uneven Structure, the label Basick Records has decided to re-release the EP that propelled the band to the front of the stage.
If we take the time to tell you about this re-release, it is because for the occasion things were not done halfway since the EP was re-recorded in its entirety with the addition of the vocals of Matthieu Romarin (ex-AnantA) which was not in the line up at the time. The result is irrevocable! As briefly mentioned in the "Februus" review, "8" is a wave of polyrhythmic riffs and a formidable mix between Meshuggah and Textures. A typical devastating exacerbated violence even if the brief atmospheric interlude "Cardinal" evokes Textures and the eponymous finale "Eight" gives the keys to the future musical orientation from which the fabulous "Februus" is derived.
Less varied and rich than its successor, the aim of this EP was to make a lasting impression. It is a success since the majority of those who passed between the claws of this "8" came out defeated by K.O. - Official website
